Introducing...ALBERT

Updated: Mar 22, 2022

Over the past couple of months, Firefly has been hard at work onboarding our newest team member, and we are thrilled to introduce you all to ALBERT!

ALBERT has taken on a very particular role at Firefly, which is to provide up-to-date data that illustrates the state of the Alberta offset credit market to buyers, sellers, project developers, investors, academics, the government and anyone else who might be interested in how the provincial emissions offset system is functioning. Best of all, ALBERT is happy to do this for everyone for free!

Too good to be true? Not at all... ALBERT – the ALBerta Emission Registry Tracker – is a program that mines and displays the publicly available data from the Alberta Emission Offset Registry. However, whereas the Registry data is awkward and time-consuming to work with, ALBERT effortlessly does all the hard work for you, to provide a series of quickly understood graphs.

So far, ALBERT can tell you:

1. The all-time quantity of registered quantity of Offset Credits created since the system began:

a. By credit status (active, retired, etc)

b. By protocol, and

c. By vintage year.

2. The current active quantity of Offset Credits in the system:

a. By project status (ongoing, complete)

b. By protocol, and

c. By vintage year.

Head on over here to check out ALBERT.

Also, please note that ALBERT updates every Tuesday (he's a hard-working little 'bot) so be sure to add ALBERT to your bookmarks and check back often.

We hope you enjoy working with ALBERT as much as we do and we look forward to any comments or feedback that you have.
